style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Thursday July 1st &lt;/span&gt;will be the last class at &lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;6.15pm&lt;/span&gt;, followed by homemade cookies and time to share afterwards.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As of now, I do not have another location to teach but if you're signed up on the email list (google group link on the right side of page), you'll get updates about where else I find to teach along with when Yoga Therapy Groups begin and any workshops I do locally.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I will continually be available for private classes (in your home/other type='text'>Endings &amp; New Beginnings for Crestwood Yoga</title><content type='html'>Hi Everyone -&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It's been just over 1 year &amp; 1 month since we opened and I want to&lt;br /&gt;thank everyone for their enthusiasm and support along the way.  I've&lt;br /&gt;witnessed many friendships formed, pain relieved, flexibility found&lt;br /&gt;along with the opening of eyes and hearts to new ways of thinking and&lt;br /&gt;experiencing and living. It's been quite an honor and privilege to&lt;br /&gt;watch &amp; facilitate this process.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;On a more somber note, I regret that I won't be able to continue to&lt;br /&gt;run the yoga studio in its full capacity at the current location after&lt;br /&gt;June 30th. Recent personal &amp; professional changes have led to a re-&lt;br /&gt;evaluation &amp; change that came after much soul searching in efforts to&lt;br /&gt;find balance between head and heart, reality &amp; desires.  My plan is to&lt;br /&gt;offer 1-2 classes/wk in my home about a block from the studio along&lt;br /&gt;with continuing to run the Yoga Therapy group at various locations&lt;br /&gt;along with putting more time/energy into private yoga &amp; counseling&lt;br /&gt;sessions at the Hoover location with options of in-home services for&lt;br /&gt;people who desire.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ginny will continue to offer therapeutic massage &amp; Reiki in her&lt;br /&gt;current space within Sol Garden, now Urban Cottage. So as far as her&lt;br /&gt;services are concerned nothing is changing.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I will update you about the offerings in my "home studio" once that&lt;br /&gt;transition is complete sometime in July along with where the other&lt;br /&gt;yoga teachers will be teaching if you'd like to follow them. Some of&lt;br /&gt;them may continue to teach until August in the current yoga studio but&lt;br /&gt;you will have to discuss their plans with them directly about their&lt;br /&gt;intentions.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Sorry for the late notice but I was hoping to avoid this temporary&lt;br /&gt;ending if possible. Every session is meant to create and provide a  safe, non-judgmental, unconditionally loving space where participants  can be themselves (or begin to find themselves) &amp;amp; simply share  without feedback or criticism.  This group is not psychotherapy, group  counseling, or a support group but more similar to the open forum of 12  step groups where listening and keeping the focus on one's own  experiences is encouraged. Other information will be discussed as well but below is the frame in which we'll work.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Here's is the layout according to each month:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;March&lt;/span&gt;: Yama &amp;amp; Niyama (first 2 limbs). Including ways to incorporate those into your life and opportunity to share with other participants about your experience with these in your life.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;April&lt;/span&gt;: Asana &amp;amp; Pranayama (3 &amp;amp; 4). This month will delve more into the posture &amp;amp; breathing portion of yoga which is used in most of the classes you take on the mat.  We'll discuss how to incorporate the Yamas &amp;amp; Niyamas into your "on the mat" practice as well as the true purpose of asana/pranayama and how to find the ones that work for you (i.e. in a home practice).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;May&lt;/span&gt;: Meditation (Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana, &amp;amp; Samadhi). These final four are the steps that move us into meditation and BLISS! if we are lucky and with continual practice. The breath can be held either after inhalation or exhalation.  It is best to follow the guidance of an expert, but here are some general guidelines in breathing with asanas: inhale when bending backward, exhale when bending forward or twisting.  While performing an asana, one usually instinctively senses whether inhalation, exhalation, or retention is appropriate. Yoga's central premise is "everything is connected," and its benefits are far-reaching.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Stress and pain relief are two of the benefits of yoga, Rossiter said, noting that yoga reduces the physical effects of stress on the body by encouraging relaxation and lowering the levels of the stress hormone cortisol. Related benefits are the lowering of blood pressure and heart rate, improving digestion and boosting the immune system, along with easing symptoms of anxiety, depression, fatigue, asthma and insomnia, she said.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;According to Yoga Alliance, studies have shown that practicing yoga postures also reduces pain for people with conditions such as cancer, multiple sclerosis and auto-immune diseases, as well as arthritis, back and neck pain and other chronic conditions.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Here's what else the Alliance says about yoga:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;-- Yoga can lead to better breathing and flexibility, teaching people to take slower, deeper breaths, helping to improve lung function and triggering the body's relaxation response. Yoga helps to improve flexibility and mobility, increasing range of movement and reducing aches and pains.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;-- Yoga increases strength. Yoga asanas use every muscle in the body, helping to increase strength from head to toe. Muscular tension is also relieved by yoga.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;-- Yoga can aid weight control efforts by reducing cortisol levels and by burning excess calories and reducing stress. Classes are 1st come 1st serve and we only have room for about 10/11 people. During the open house, we'll have snacks, free chair massages, &amp;amp; opportunities for you to learn what we offer - including first class &amp;amp; massage discounts. Lyndsey Robinson &amp;amp; Jana Jones will be offering Kripalu &amp;amp; Ashtanga Vinyasa classes. Ginny Morgan, LMT, is the massage therapist that will be sharing the space with me. She offers deep tissues, Swedish, &amp;amp; pregnancy massage along with Reiki energy sessions.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Class time &amp;amp; day suggestions are welcome.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Classes will be on the left side of &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Sol Garden|Home &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span&gt;between Subway &amp;amp; Crestwood Coffee&lt;/span&gt; at 5508 Crestwood Blvd in the Crestwood Shops.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;First week of classes are donation-based (i.e. pay what you like or nothing at all :)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1 hr Yoga classes: $10&lt;br /&gt;1.5 hr Yoga classes: $15&lt;br /&gt;1 hr Massage: $65&lt;br /&gt;1/2 hr Massage: $35&lt;br /&gt;1 hr Reiki session: $50&lt;br /&gt;1.5 hr Massage + Reiki: $100&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Kripalu yoga emphasis breath &amp;amp; holding of postures along with finding "your" yoga - i.e. what your body can do &amp;amp; at what edge you want to work.
