Last Week of Classes
This will be the last week of yoga classes at Crestwood Yoga unless your instructor has told you otherwise.
Thursday July 1st will be the last class at 6.15pm, followed by homemade cookies and time to share afterwards.
As of now, I do not have another location to teach but if you're signed up on the email list (google group link on the right side of page), you'll get updates about where else I find to teach along with when Yoga Therapy Groups begin and any workshops I do locally.
I will continually be available for private classes (in your home/other location), private sessions, holistic counseling, and Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy at my office in Hoover or Woodstock.
Hope to see you this week and on Thursday to wrap-up our year here.
Namaste,
Lyndsey

Endings & New Beginnings for Crestwood Yoga
Hi Everyone -
It's been just over 1 year & 1 month since we opened and I want to
thank everyone for their enthusiasm and support along the way. I've
witnessed many friendships formed, pain relieved, flexibility found
along with the opening of eyes and hearts to new ways of thinking and
experiencing and living. It's been quite an honor and privilege to
watch & facilitate this process.
On a more somber note, I regret that I won't be able to continue to
run the yoga studio in its full capacity at the current location after
June 30th. Recent personal & professional changes have led to a re-
evaluation & change that came after much soul searching in efforts to
find balance between head and heart, reality & desires. My plan is to
offer 1-2 classes/wk in my home about a block from the studio along
with continuing to run the Yoga Therapy group at various locations
along with putting more time/energy into private yoga & counseling
sessions at the Hoover location with options of in-home services for
people who desire.
Ginny will continue to offer therapeutic massage & Reiki in her
current space within Sol Garden, now Urban Cottage. So as far as her
services are concerned nothing is changing.
I will update you about the offerings in my "home studio" once that
transition is complete sometime in July along with where the other
yoga teachers will be teaching if you'd like to follow them. Some of
them may continue to teach until August in the current yoga studio but
you will have to discuss their plans with them directly about their
intentions.
Sorry for the late notice but I was hoping to avoid this temporary
ending if possible. Know that at some point the larger studio could re-
emerge but for now, look forward to a smaller more intimate location
for Yoga, Meditation, & Sangha in Crestwood.
Thanks again for all your support & feel free to call or email me
about any questions/concerns/etc you may have as I hope to stay
connected and offer what services I can to our Community.
Namaste,
Lyndsey

Awakening to a Freer Life: Reducing Stress with the Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy Group Approach
On Monday April 26, 2010 at 6.30p, we will begin a 8-wk Yoga Therapy Group for based on the Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy approach to coping with stress at Crestwood Yoga & Massage (5508 Crestwood Blvd).
*PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED - call/email for packet*
Monday Sessions (April 26 - June 14 from 6.30 - 8.45pm), participants will be guided through an Phoenix Rising-based Yoga class (about experience vs. exercise/activity), an open meditation, then group facilitated circle where participants have an opportunity to share their experiences from both on and off the mat. Every session is meant to create and provide a safe, non-judgmental, unconditionally loving space where participants can be themselves (or begin to find themselves) & simply share without feedback or criticism. This group is not psychotherapy, group counseling, or a support group but more similar to the open forum of 12 step groups where listening and keeping the focus on one's own experiences is encouraged. Each week centers around a theme which builds on the previous week creating an 8 step process for becoming more present & awake to your life.
All Day Silent Retreat on Saturday May 15th or 22nd (TBD)
- a longer Yoga Class
- walking & sitting meditation
- a silent mindful eating exercise at lunch,
- Partner Yoga (breaking of silence & custody of the eyes)
- Group Circle Reflection
*This day is vital part of the 8 wk program and participation is required as a part of the weekly sessions as well. Many people have never experienced a full day of silence especially in the context of other people, but this opportunity provides a structured way to experience silence and oneself in a safe, contained manner.
Participants receive:
- manual (themed exercises & outlined daily practice)
- CD (Centering Meditation, 20-30 min Yoga Practice, Body Scan, & Integration Meditation)
Please call or email to register & receive the necessary paperwork to determine if the group is a good fit for participants' needs & abilities.
No previous yoga or meditation or counseling experience needed. While the fee is highly discounted, all interested in the benefits of the group are encouraged to register for participation. Your well-being is more important than your money, even though financial support enables me to provide the services.
Investment Cost: $100 (discounted for Intro Group)

Yoga Off the Mat
Starting Sunday March 7th from 4.30 - 5.45pm-ish, we will begin a 3-mth series of 4-wk workshops on applying yoga "on & off the mat" according to the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, particularly the 8 Limbs of Ashtanga Yoga. Other information will be discussed as well but below is the frame in which we'll work.
Here's is the layout according to each month:
March: Yama & Niyama (first 2 limbs). Including ways to incorporate those into your life and opportunity to share with other participants about your experience with these in your life.
April: Asana & Pranayama (3 & 4). This month will delve more into the posture & breathing portion of yoga which is used in most of the classes you take on the mat. We'll discuss how to incorporate the Yamas & Niyamas into your "on the mat" practice as well as the true purpose of asana/pranayama and how to find the ones that work for you (i.e. in a home practice).
May: Meditation (Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana, & Samadhi). These final four are the steps that move us into meditation and BLISS! if we are lucky and with continual practice. We'll discuss types of meditation along with ways to do that and the subtle details between these steps along with group sitting.
Price: 3-mth series $155
4-wk wkshp $60
4 x 4 pckg $100 (4-wk course + 4-wk yoga class)
Please call/email ASAP to register & pay for class. This class is right before the Sunday night class so if you want to couple your registration with a 4-wk series of Sunday Yoga Classes, you'll also receive a discount as noted above.
